We’ve seen some amazing acts on America’s Got Talent, but many of them are just new takes on existing talents. There have been a lot of singers, dancers, acrobats, and magicians. But what about the acts that do something we’ve never seen on the show before? Let’s check out five of our favorite examples.

AGT Acts That Brought Something New

1. Brandon Leake

In Season 15 of AGT, Brandon Leake became the show’s first-ever spoken word poet. He auditioned with an emotional poem about his sister who passed away, earning the Golden Buzzer from judge Howie Mandel. Brandon continued to deliver powerful performances throughout the competition. He ended up becoming the first spoken word poet to win the million-dollar prize.

2. The Cline Twins

These twin brothers from Canada auditioned for Season 17 of the show with a unique act in which they performed hockey tricks. Using just hockey sticks and pucks, the brothers showed off some amazing skills. They threw the pucks into the air, spinning around and always catching them with their sticks. Unfortunately, this unique act was eliminated in the Qualifiers before reaching the Finals.

3. Emily Bland

We’re not even sure what to call Emily Bland’s talent, which she showed off in Season 17. Her audition involved lip syncing to her husband’s voice. She then proved that she could lip sync to the judges’ voices without knowing what they were going to say. Howie Mandel described it as “improvisational lip syncing.” Emily earned three “yes” votes, but unfortunately she didn’t make it to the next round.

4. The Professional Regurgitator

We’ve seen performers do some strange things with their bodies, including sword swallowing. But Stevie Starr’s act in Season 10 was uniquely disturbing, because he swallowed objects like coins and lightbulbs and then regurgitated them. Judge Heidi Klum was particularly fond of the act. Stevie finished in fourth place and returned for AGT: The Champions in 2019.

5. The Kinetic King

Before Domino Masters, this performer (whose real name was Tim Fort) auditioned for Season 6 of AGT by showing off an amazing chain reaction. He made it to the Quarterfinals with his fun and unique talent and then returned as a wildcard in the Quarterfinals. Fort sadly passed away in 2016 at the age of 51 after suffering a series of strokes.
